Behnaz is focusing on genome engineering using plants P450 in yeast. These enzymes are promiscuous and therefore, minimizing by-products, while increasing biomass and productivity are essential. Behnaz is optimizing productivity through combinatorial and genetic engineering approaches while balancing the redox environment. She will also be using relevant transcriptomics and proteomics datasets to model the increased production of desired compounds and detect further bottlenecks
