Synthetic biology has allowed the engineering of novel synthetic multi-enzymatic pathways to produce high value products in a sustainable way. Nevertheless, the recovery and purification of such compounds for analytical purposes in a high throughput way or for commercial purposes is still a challenge and in many occasions the bottleneck of the whole bioprocess. In our research group, we are looking at novel ways to engineer the cells as well as novel downstream methodologies to mutually enhance the product purification.

We are using novel technologies such as supercritical fluids extraction and solid liquid phase extraction using custom made materials for the practical and sustainable extraction of novel natural products from engineered cell factories.
